William Henry Thorn, Jr., 67, died unexpectedly on March 17, 2020, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, after a very short battle with pneumonia and complications from pulmonary sarcoidosis. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Bronxville, NY, he was the son of the late William H. Thorn and Patricia Phelps Thorn.
Henry began his career with McMichael Yacht Brokers and then had a long successful career as a defense contractor with Golden Manufacturing of Golden, Mississippi.
As a longtime resident of Essex, CT, Henry was able to share his love of the water and enjoyed many family vacations to cruising destinations throughout New England. He was an active member of the Essex Yacht Club before recently relocating to Phoenix, MD.
He was happily married for 43 years to the love of his life Gladys (Gay) Busk Thorn. Henry is survived by his son, Britton Thorn and wife Ashley of Darien, CT; daughter Katrina Schrader and husband Tim of Timonium, MD and granddaughters Payton and Madison Schrader and Taylor Thorn. Henry is also survived by his stepmother, Sara Lou Thorn of Bedford, NY, two sisters, Elizabeth Doetzel (Bluffton, SC) and Patricia Heaton (Dorset, Vermont and Boca Grande, FL), and adored by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life with friends and family will be announced at a later date.
